The Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses (OAAPN) congratulates Rear Admiral Susan Orsega, MSN, FNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN as the first nurse practitioner appointed to serve as the nation’s acting U.S. Surgeon General.
Orsega has served as the Director of Commissioned Corps Headquarters (CCHQ) at the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services since March 2019.
We are honored and proud that an NP will serve in this capacity and know that her expertise will aid national COVID-19 response efforts to combat the pandemic.
