Healthcare associations represent a collection of professionals who work towards the common goal of promoting and improving the medical profession with which they are associated. These organizations champion their members by providing resources, information, and opportunities they might have not had otherwise.
Members are bonded together as they advocate for their peers and share their challenges and triumphs among one another. Joining an association provides members with a competitive advantage because they become active, informed members within their industry. In fact, many association members who lead busy professional lives depend on their association to brief them on important industry trends, new legislative rulings, and advances in technology.
Among the many benefits of joining a professional association are:
- Networking – Access to experts in the field, industry events, opportunities to serve, and the ability to engage with other members.
- Continuing Education – Membership is often accompanied by reduced rates to attend regional and statewide meetings and other opportunities to complete programs for CE credit.
- Industry + Legislative Updates – Receive legislative updates, perspective on state and national news, and industry trends from a trusted source.
The voice of more than 17,000 APRNs in Ohio, the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses (OAAPN) membership includes Nurse Practitioners, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Certified Nurse-Midwives. Membership in OAAPN provides support for full practice initiatives for all Ohio APRNs, as improved health care options for all Ohioans are important to both the profession and the community as a whole.
Most recently, OAAPN has been essential in clarifying changes to telemedicine requirements, delivering a daily synopsis of Governor DeWine’s press conferences, and supporting the legislative efforts around H.B. 177, the Better Access, Better Care Act.
In addition to the many benefits you receive through your membership with OAAPN, your dues go to support our legislative efforts to remove barriers and unnecessary regulations for APRNs in Ohio. The funds also are used to provide answers to legally researched practice questions, CE opportunities, peer interaction, and philanthropic activities.
Your OAAPN membership matters in our state, for our profession, and our patients. If you are currently a member, we thank you for your support of our profession. If you are not yet a member, say yes to joining us and make your membership matter today.
