2024 OAAPN Statewide Conference Objectives

Save the Date for OAAPN’s 33rd Annual Statewide Conference, October 24 – 26 at the Hyatt Regency and Greater Columbus Convention Center in downtown Columbus. 

For 2024, we are pleased to offer new pre-conference workshops as well as 12 breakout session options bookended by general sessions providing pharmaceutical, legal, and legislative updates. An important part of each workshop or conference session is the objectives covered. Let’s explore the objectives of every session for this year’s Statewide Conference. 

12 Lead ECG Interpretation Objectives covered:

  • The learner will adopt a systematic approach to 12 Lead Electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation.
  • The learner will recognize abnormal ECG findings.
  • The learner will examine the invasive and noninvasive treatment guidelines for coronary artery disease. 

Basic Suturing Objectives covered: 

  • Describe and review normal wound healing.
  • Describe and review wound closure techniques.
  • Describe and review the fundamentals of wound preparation including the prevention of infection.
  • Discuss & review use of antimicrobial cleaners & oral antibiotic medications for lacerations.

Intra-articular and Peri-articular Injections Objectives covered:

  • Explore muscular skeletal, anatomy and identify anatomic landmarks necessary to perform successful intr-articular and peri-articular injections. Identify common intra-articular and periarticular injection techniques and list important codes for billing and reimbursement.

Labor and Sex Trafficking Overview for Healthcare Professionals Objectives covered: 

  • Identify potential signs of labor and sex trafficking in pediatric patients who present in a healthcare setting.
  • Describe risk factors of labor and sex trafficking of children, youth, and young adults.
  • Identify and discuss state and local organizations that provide assistance to people being trafficked and those who have exited.
