National CRNA Week

Since 2000, the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiologists has dedicated National CRNA Week as a celebration of the more than 57,000 practicing nurse anesthetists in the U.S. This year, CRNA Week is January 23rd-29th, with the theme, “Trusted Anesthesia Experts on the Frontline.”

From collaborating for transformative wins in healthcare policy to saving lives and advancing patient care, National CRNA Week gives the healthcare community and greater public alike the opportunity to reflect on the heroic work and unique expertise of CRNAs while recognizing the power and resilience of our community.

Originally termed National Nurse Anesthetist Week, it was renamed National CRNA Week in 2014, to help familiarize patients, healthcare professionals, administrators, and policymakers with the CRNA credential and exceptional advanced practice registered nurses who have earned it.

This annual celebration encourages CRNAs to educate the public about the safe and efficient anesthesia care provided by nurse anesthetists. Providing anesthesia care for more than 150 years, CRNAs are essential to our healthcare system, oftentimes being the sole provider in medically underserved areas.

As the voice of more than 10,000 APRNs throughout Ohio, OAAPN counts Nurse Practitioners, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Certified Nurse Midwives among its members. We believe that there is strength in our numbers, authority in our voice, and influence in our actions.

We hope that you will join us in celebrating the CRNAs who practice in Ohio. Together, we can promote affordable, accessible, quality healthcare for all Ohioans, and attain fair and equitable standards for all of our professions. Join today to invest in yourself and your profession.
