National Nurses Week

The Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses is celebrating National Nurses Week and our amazing APRNs, and taking a moment to acknowledge the collective impact of our profession now more than ever.

National Nurses Week was established by the American Nurses Association in 1993 to celebrate the nursing profession and is typically celebrated May 6 through May 12, ending on the birthday of Florence Nightingale who is considered to be the founder of modern nursing.

As part of the “year of the Nurse and Midwife” celebration, and in recognition of Florence Nightingale’s 200th birthday, this year will be a month-long celebration of the work and dedication of nurses worldwide.

In recognition of those who are joining other healthcare workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, many businesses and organizations are offering freebies and perks to nurses throughout the month of May.

Offers include a collection fo free nursing books from Amazon; discounted fuel from BP and Amoco stations; free Crocs for healthcare professionals; hot (or iced!) coffee from Starbucks; enough Krispy Kreme donuts to share; and for when it all becomes a little too much, free support from TalkSpace

From all of us at OAAPN to all of you, are amazing APRN members – thank you!
