At the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses, we are taking the opportunity to celebrate all APRNs during National Nurse Practitioner’s Week, celebrated November 10-16, 2019. The purpose of the week is to celebrate these exceptional health care professionals, and to build awareness of the importance of removing outdated barriers to practice that still exist in state law and regulations.
The voice of more than 10,000 APRNs throughout Ohio, OAAPN counts Nurse Practitioners, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Certified Nurse Midwives among our members. We believe that there is strength in our numbers, authority in our vice, and influence in our action. Thus, we celebrate all APRNs this week as part of our efforts to promote the profession of Advanced Practice Nursing.
To celebrate, OAAPN will be having some fun on our social platforms the week of November 10. Be sure to follow along and participate!
- On Facebook, we will be doing daily giveaways for our followers. Each day, one of our members will be posting a “question of the day” video and a random winner will be selected from the responses in the comments of the post.
- On Twitter, we will be doing one giveaway for the week, to encourage you to tell us why you are proud to be an APRN. Use #ProudAPRN in your response tweet and a random winner will be selected on Friday, November 15.
We hope that you will join us in celebrating our APRNs who practice in Ohio, yet have encountered many barriers to their practice. Undue restrictions often keep APRNs from providing the full scope of services that they are trained to offer. Together, we can promote affordable, accessible, quality healthcare for all Ohioans, and attain fair and equitable standards for all of our profession.
