Here’s an update on the OHSAA Issue:
A few months ago, OAAPN received numerous complaints from members that the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) made a specific decision to limit the acceptable providers who can sign the newly adopted NFHS Medical Release Form for Wrestler to Participate with Skin Lesions. This decision limited the acceptable provider to be physicians only (MD/DO).
OAAPN coordinated with our legal counsel who spoke with the OHSAA to gather more information and then sent OHSAA a letter providing detailed information as to why Ohio APRNs should be included. We were informed on April 12 that the Joint Advisory Committee has a meeting scheduled for May 4th and that this topic is on the agenda for discussion.
We will keep our members informed as this process continues.
