Yesterday, the Ohio Board of Pharmacy sent many of us an email indicating a failure to comply with laws requiring the use of the Ohio Automated Rx Reporting system (OARRS). We heard from a number of members who received the e-mail and were confused and concerned as they had complied with the law and had documentation of their compliance.
OAAPN’s legal counsel immediately contacted the Ohio Board of Pharmacy, which reported that these emails were sent out erroneously without the knowledge of the Ohio Board of Nursing, the State Medical Board of Ohio, and the Ohio State Dental Board. In addition, OAAPN also contacted the Ohio Board of Nursing and they confirmed they had not received any erroneous reporting from the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy.
Here is the Board of Pharmacy’s response:
“Please be advised that the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy sent out emails this morning (11/27/2017) to approximately 7,000 prescribers indicating failure to comply with laws requiring the use of the Ohio Automated Rx Reporting System (OARRS).
The emails were erroneously distributed without the knowledge of the State Medical Board of Ohio, Ohio Board of Nursing or the Ohio State Dental Board and may contain inaccurate information. If you received this morning’s email, please disregard it. You do not need to take any further action at this time.” The Pharmacy Board apologizes for this mistake and any concerns it may have
Thank you to all the OAAPN members who contacted us about this concerning issue!
