The Veterans Administration’s Struggle to Achieve FPA

Dr. Jensen will discuss her difficult and arduous journey in securing Full Practice Authority for APRN’s working for the U.S. Veteran Administration’s (VA). The impact of the VA recognition of full practice authority for all APRNs will increase the public visibility of APRNs and assist tremendously in the removal of barriers to practice for all APRNs across the country.
In her role as liaison for National APRN Policy for the VA Office of Nursing Service (ONS), Dr. Jensen was a leader in the VA initiative that resulted in full practice authority for all VA APRNs (CRNAs were not granted FPA).
