It is that time of year again – National Nurses Week. Every year, National Nurses Week is celebrated from May 6 to May 12, ending on Florence Nightingale’s birthday. This year, the American Nurses Association has designated the theme of “Nursing: the Balance of Mind, Body, and Spirit,” reflecting the overall goal of healthy nurses throughout the nation. This theme was developed to challenge the nursing community to lead our nation in getting healthy with their Grand Challenge.
In the words of ANA Enterprise CEO Marla J. Weston, PhD, RN, FAAN, “As the nation’s most honest and ethical profession and its largest group of health care professionals, nurses know the importance of serving as healthy role models for the patients and communities they serve. However, in a number of significant indicators, nurses are less healthy than the average American.”
Join The Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses in celebrating National Nurses Week and raise awareness of the contributions that nurses make to their communities. Additionally, get your nursing colleagues together and commit to the challenge.
