This legislative session has been extremely busy and at times in appears we take one step forward and two steps backward. However, every day I see or read a story that reminds me why we, as a team, need to preserve and keep moving forward. I overhear the conversations in the coffee shops of me neighbors who have health insurance but cannot access care because there are no providers in our rural area. I see reports of AARP members at the West Virginia Statehouse speaking out against over-regulation of nurse practitioners. I hear the testimonials of the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists who are providing great care by are trying to administer this care more efficiently to assure better patient outcomes.
OAAPN’s Board of Directors recently celebrated our achievement of 3,000 members! However, we still have a way to go as there are over 13,000 Advanced Practice Registered Nurses practicing in Ohio. We are doing our best to represent all APRNs in Ohio and to modernize our practices, but we cannot do this without you. We need you time, talents and membership. If you are able to take 30 minutes to call or write a letter to your Senator, your time is appreciated. If you are able to make a donation to our PAC – thank you! And as always, your membership dues to your professional association are critical for OAAPN to have an impact on APRN practice in Ohio.
