Our “True Stories” blog series features perspectives from Ohio APRN’s across the state highlighting the need to pass OAAPN’s Modernization Bill, H.B. 216. Matt Steele is not only an Advanced Practice Nurse in Ohio; he is also a member of the United States Army Reserves. As a military professional, Matt shares his perspective on the current law in Ohio.

As a member of the United States Army Reserves and a Forward Surgical Team (FST), CRNA’s provide exceptional anesthesia and care in a wide variety of austere environments without the supervision of a physician anesthesiologist. We trust our military CRNA’s with the men and women defending our country, how are our veterans and families any different in their worth for their care?  H.B. 216 would allow CRNA’s the ability to provide high quality, exceptional, unencumbered anesthetic care to our ever-increasing veteran populations and throughout our Veteran’s Administration system in the state of Ohio that is so urgently needed.  I urge you to support H.B. 216.

We would love to hear your story. Contact OAAPN Communications Chair Cathy Hoffman by emailing to share your story with your colleagues. And don’t forget to share with your representative in order to highlight the benefits of H.B. 216 in support of this legislation.
