As a nationally recognized expert, opinion leader, speaker, writer and consultant, Susan Wysocki’s name is well known in the field of women’s health. A leader with a great deal of influence, Susan Wysocki has carved out her own spot in the history of advanced practice nursing.
Susan began her nursing career over 36 years ago when she received her undergraduate degree in Nursing from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. She then continued her education, completing a nurse practitioner program in family planning at the New Jersey College of Medicine in Newark, and the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
Susan quickly took on a leadership role when she became the founding President of the American College of Nurse Practitioners, a role she held for over 25 years. She currently serves as president and CEO of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health. She also serves on the editorial boards of American Nurse and Contraceptive Technology Update. She has authored numerous articles about issues in women’s health and has been a video blogger for Medscape.
Susan is best noted for her expertise in health care advocacy, ensuring the implementation of proper guidelines for women’s health issues. She has testified before the Federal Drug Administration, managed public relations, and has written multiple newsletters and grant proposals.
Ms. Wysocki has worn a plethora of hats over the course of her long career, acquiring valuable experience in various aspects of the health care field, from nursing and scientific research to publishing and public relations. Her efforts have been recognized with a Commissioner’s Citation in 2004 by the United States Food and Drug Administration, a Sharp Cutting Edge Award for Leadership in 2003 by the American College of Nurse Practitioners, and an award for political activism in 2003 by The Nurse Practitioner.
