They are our fathers, sons, brothers, husbands and colleagues. Each year in June we take time to honor the special men in our lives and raise awareness on important health issues effecting them during Men’s Health Month.
The purpose of this month is to increase the awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among both men and boys. Health care providers across the country are encouraged to get involved and plan an event to inspire men and boys to seek medical advice and treatment for diseases and injuries.
Men’s health awareness can mean many different things. It means raising awareness to make healthy choices, regularly visiting a health care provider and receiving appropriate education when it comes to their health.
Men’s Health Network, a national non-profit organization whose mission is to reach men and their families with health awareness, is the sponsor of this month.
